Today’s Grand Trine in Air and Divine Dreamtime ~ Astrology

Aquarius, the Water Bearer

Well, I don’t know about you but my life has been filled with lots of significance of late. However, today we have an Air Grand Trine composed of the Moon, Saturn and Venus, which is essentially a harmonizing energy providing a period of intellectual self-sufficiency. As we’re dealing with the element of air, we’re talking about mental energy so we could get a bit lost in a world of our own, unable to turn off our thoughts to deal with emotional or practical matters.

Later in the night (early hours in the morning for we Europeans) Neptune Trines Mercury. Think dream time, meditation, poetry, song, allowing yourself to be swept away by music even if only you can hear the tune. Trines on their own are a lovely harmonizing energy. However, with this many trines in one day, and no grounding squares, one may find themselves almost sailing away.  Example: I have just had to rewrite this post because when I looked at my astrological calendar, I saw a Sextile that was really a Trine.  I had obviously already let mind wander into divine dreamtime. Fortunately the wonderful English astrologer, Helen Tremeer, kindly sent me a message reminding me to plant my feet back on the floor and remember that an aspect between two water signs is actually a Trine, not a Sextile. See? It’s not just happening to you.

So… I recommend keeping paper and pencil or the 21st century technological version nearby to write those impressions down as they occur to you or as you dream them. This Trine is between two water signs: Pisces and Cancer. You can expect feelings, thoughts, dreams of love: spiritual love, unconditional love, mother love and most important of all, self love. On the shadow side? Self-delusion and denial are real possibilities. So don’t forget denial is not just a river in Africa. If you start to feel your feet separating from the ground (metaphorically speaking), go find a tree to hug.

Next week will be more action oriented. For now let yourself slip and slide in the divine waters of life.

The Mutable Signs in Astrology: Change Always Comes Bearing Gifts

I know everyone is starting to gird their loins for the coming transits, perhaps even panic a little. Neptune is stationing to go direct squaring the Moon’s nodal axis just 10 hours after the Lunar Eclipse in Sadge. Following that is the mystery and spectacle of Venus crossing the Sun, which none of us will see again in this life time, reminding us of the love we hold inside our hearts just waiting to be expressed and perhaps teaching us how to better express and receive that love. That’s a lot of energy to try to understand or experience and impossible to contain.

Some important degree points to consider:

14 Sagittarius (or anything within 3 degrees of 14 Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini or Virgo)
3 Pisces (or anything within 3 degrees of 3 Pisces, Sagittarius, Gemini or Virgo)
15 Gemini (or anything within 3 degrees of Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo or Pisces)
5 Sagittarius ( or anything within 3 degrees of 5 Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo or Pisces)
5 Gemini ( or anything within 3 degrees of 5 Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo or Pisces)

Are we seeing a pattern, yet?  Or in the words of Rolf Harris: “Can you tell what it is, yet?”  Astrology is all about patterns, as is our physical reality.

All of those signs listed above are mutable signs. What are mutable signs? On a general level they’re about adapting to change, being willing to adjust, go with the flow of events. It is also important to remember that they thrive on change, on movement and will seek to move beyond what currently exists, to adjust plans, and redesign existing patterns. Ever spend an afternoon with a Gemini? I had a lover once with a Gemini ascendent and I heard this from him almost every day: “I’ve got to keep my options open.”  In other words, they are always expecting change and, in fact, hoping for it. Mutable signs are flexible. They like to explore possible alternatives. When stuff happens to mutable signs they respond by evolving, by moving beyond what exists or by breaking up what exists in to manageable parts and dispersing them outward. For them the world is never static and is constantly changing. They like it that way.

Therefore, we have a great opportunity to learn about change, to evolve beyond what exists. For those of us who are more comfortable with maintaining the status quo or being the initiators this can be difficult, even problematic. Panic may occasionally step in because it is an energy we find unfamiliar, an energy that goes against how we expect the world to behave. I will admit that even I, with my 5 planets in fixed signs, have had some difficult moments, have wanted to grab hold of something to keep it in place just a little bit longer.

So, I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest something the tiniest bit radical: Just Allow.

Let those mutable energies sweep you along in their wake and enjoy the ride. When it’s over you will have discovered another piece of the puzzle that is you.

Before you ask where to look, I would suggest you look at any planets you have in or around 3, 14 or 15 degrees. To see what area of life will be activated by these changing energies look on your natal chart for which house the following points fall in:

14 Sagittarius
3 Pisces
15 Gemini

This I got from Hal Bahr who got it from the movie, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. I think it sums up the situation best.

Aries and Pisces Ask Us To Find A Balance Between What We Say and What We Feel

Zodiac Art, Aries by Carolyn Quan

Changes are afoot today… Mercury is moving into ‘just do it’ Aries alongside Uranus while the Moon has moved into ‘just dream it’ Pisces holding hands with Neptune.

The Moon is coming up to oppose Mars… feelings of frustration may create personal challenges… The urge to bust out and start all those projects that have been on hold may be hampered by the need to ‘feel’ receptive, peace-loving, compassionate… with an emphasis on the super-sensitive … Work to combine the two energies to create dynamic expressions of peace and compassion, poetry and art. How can you make the world a better place? Find a balance between what you say and what you feel.

Aries Equinox 2012 ~ If you can imagine it, you can make it come true.

Aries Equinox 2012

Happy Aries Equinox, everyone! As the sun makes it’s way into the sign of Aries, we welcome Spring here in the Northern Hemisphere, as my friends in the Southern Hemisphere welcome Autumn. Day and Night are in Balance.

The Sun is now in a fire sign, while the Moon is conjunct Neptune in Pisces. However, the Moon is being opposed by retrograde Mars in Virgo which can make emotions short, frustrations difficult to avoid and/or handle. Patience, calm, compassion for others and thinking things through before we speak and/or act is more important than ever.

We do still have a Grand Trine softening the harsher energies. However, be aware that although an Earth Grand Trine sounds so lovely, it can also indicate feelings of complacency and laziness. We forget or just can’t muster up the energy to actually make use of the positive energy available to us. However with that Moon Mars opposition (squared by the North Node in Sagittarius for those of you who understand or include the effects of the Moon’s nodes in your analysis), we may just be catapulted off of our sofas into action.

Remember those dreams and hopes and grand ideas we could just almost imagine or see at the periphery of our lives during Imbolc (and Lughnasadh in the Southern Hemisphere)? Now, as we open our lives, hearts and minds to the magic and transformational energy of the Equinox, they begin to manifest in our lives.

I have this little thing I do at all the solstices and equinoxes. It’s a silly thing, really. I started it a lifetime ago when I was younger and working out in a world that didn’t necessarily see the magic of the four quarter points quite like I did. So I used to tell my students, clients, friends and myself, that if you can’t dedicate the entire day to celebrating the specialness of this day, try to find some time in the day to take a moment out to do, think, act, in a way that represents how you would like the next three months to go. In other words, as we say here in the United Kingdom, ‘Start as you mean to go on.’  If you are looking for inner peace, extend peace to others, or just allow yourself to feel that peace in your heart. If you would like more abundance in your life, give to others or buy yourself a gift without guilt or worry. You get the idea.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a time in our lives when those feelings and actions just seem impossible, times when just remaining positive seem utterly impossible. I do understand this. However, something that you can always do is to take a moment to feel the earth under your feet, the sky at your head, while taking a deep breath in and a slow exhale out. If possible go for a walk, hug a tree, admire a flower, notice the effects of the changing season on the natural world around you.  In the evening, write your dreams and desires down in your journal, light a candle and know that by the time that candle has burned down, those dreams are already in the arms of the Universe, God, Goddess, Spirit working their way back to you.

Blessings, my lovely ones.

Keep your heart open to dreams. For as long as there’s a dream, there is hope, and as long as there is hope, there is joy in living.” ~ Anonymous

Pisces New Moon ~ Dancing With Your Inner Dreamer

Pisces New Moon 2012

The new moon in Pisces will be coming upon us in a couple of hours. So much has already been said and written. I don’t want to inundate you with more of the same.

However, I would like to say a few things…

All new moons are times of new beginnings and the time just before of letting go of those things that no longer serve us. This is especially true when we think about Pisces. Pisces energy is impressionable, a bit of a sponge, boundaries dissolve and we lose sight of what is ours and what we have acquired from someone else.

So, take a moment. Light a candle, say a prayer or an affirmation for the things you no longer need and let them go with love.

Then while your heart is open, capture those dreams that have been floating around your head and send them joyfully to the waiting arms of the Cosmos. This truly is a time when you are able to make your dreams manifest in your lives.

And finally… I know many of you are beginning astrologers or not astrologers at all. This chart I’ve posted looks like a foreign language to you. However, just this once when you look at it, try not to think of it as a language that you don’t understand. Think of it as Round Art (I have borrowed that from A.T. Mann), a type of Mandala. Take a moment to use it as a focus for meditation or even just a couple of minutes of silence. Let it work it’s magic in your life and spirit.

Service which is rendered without joy helps neither the servant nor the served. But all other pleasures and possessions pale into nothingness before service which is rendered in a spirit of joy. ~ Mahatma Ghandi

Go be joyful.
